I’ve been looking forward to the day I could share Andrea with all of you. She totally rocks my socks! We met in June (although it feels like I’ve known her my whole life), through Linda @ Craftaholics Anonymous. Twice a year, Linda holds a handmade gift exchange (the second one of the year is the first week of November, mark your calendar!). I was matched with Andrea, and we hit it off. She’s totally helped me with her words of wisdom when things start to get tough around here. Definitely one of my BEST bloggy friends!

Hey all you hep cats! What’s shakin’? I’m Andrea, otherwise known as retrohipmama and my blog is she’s crafty. it’s a pretty fun place.
I blog about fashion
and makin’ stuff (coke embroidery, cherry mug rug, monogram tote)
and upcycling (shirt upcycle, happy tote, strawberries in cinder blocks)
and kids and photography
and other general craftiness
my 2 awesome and crazy boys (gibson [10] and marshall [4]) take up my non-crafty time and my sweet hubby matt fully supports my habit of felt, fabric, embroidery, photography and scrapbooking supplies.
I recently opened my very own Etsy shop where I sell my fabric button rings and earrings, fabric coaster sets and one of a kind embroidery. ohmigosh you should come visit me there! I’m giving props to Kristan for kickin’ my boo-tay into gear and opening my shop! thanks girl!
Outside of crafting, I’m totally into football. I have 2 fantasy football teams this year and can I just brag for one sec and say that I’m #1 in both of them. Booya! I love cherry coke (even though I only drink it on special occasions now). Stars (the shape, not the balls of gas in space). Cheez-Its are my favorite snack (but they make me break out so I can’t eat them too much). music (typically big band, oldies, classic 70’s, 90’s hip-hop or rock with loud guitars). I think the best music has already been made. I could eat Mexican food every day. I don’t drink coffee. I hate the smell of dryer sheet but love the smell of tires and gasoline. Slightly OCD, I eat snacks and candies two-at-a-time (one for each side), preferably the same color, but I can be flexible. =) That’s me in a little nutshell.
Te daughter of a draftsman and a dressmaker, I think I was crafting straight outta the womb. Is that possible? my mama sewed my clothes as a kid, she did DIY projects around the house and had a knack for making use out of useless things. I vividly remember sewing next to her in my bedroom and taking naps while she sewed. she taught me how to paint, sew, glue, organize, quilt and draw.
My love for making things started early and by high school I was dead set on becoming an architect. Apparently God had other plans and I became a wife and mommy instead. I did freelance graphic design for years while I worked part-time. we moved in 2002 and I landed a full time design gig in town at an insurance office. After six and a half years, they sold the company to a large corporation and my position was no longer needed. Devastated but open to new opportunities, I ended up at another insurance firm in town and after 6 months was promoted to a position with a ton more responsibility. no more designing and lots of stress left me creatively empty. No accolades for this crafty girl was driving me insane.
I needed place for my stuff. a place where I could share what I was making, creating, designing, organizing. that’s how she’s crafty was born, and I took the title straight from the beastie boys song, but I’m the good kind of crafty!
Blogging provides soooo many things for me and those who read my blog: inspiration. accolades. an outlet. validation. friendship. We all need these things. and when I tell someone else how much I like what they made, it makes me feel as good as getting a comment that someone liked my stuff. She’s crafty has only been live since October of last year so I guess it’s my anniversary month. hmmm, maybe I should do some kind of celebration? How about I just do a giveaway right here on adelynSTONE! Et’s official…check out the end of the post for the deets but I will giveaway something cool from my etsy shop!
