Summer’s BIG Weekend

Our 4th of July weekend was full of family, fun and fireworks.
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get any better.

I just love that little hand on my face.
Makes me want to go wake him up right now and love on him.

That kid has more faces than anyone I know.

We didn’t end up leaving our house until 8, or sometimes after 8 to go see fireworks. And we didn’t even know where we were going. The sun started dropping fast, and before we knew it, the sky was a dark gray. I was so disappointed, as I totally thought we would have missed the fireworks.
Turns out it was a good thing we waited. While there were NO parking spots in sight, we were able to park and find a nice little spot on the grass. Instead of waiting HOURSSSS in the heat we only waited about 10 minutes.

Both Stone and Adelyn LOVED the fireworks. Stone watched them the whole time, never flinching. And Adelyn (who was deathly afraid of the fireworks at a friends house a few days prior) kept “ohhhing” and “ahhing”

(I promise, that cigarette is NOT LIT)

NaNa, PaPa and Uncle G

Adelyn LOVES her aunt Nic. And aunt Nic loves her Adelyn.
For those who know my sister personally, she is amazing with these kids. One might think that she is the furthest thing from a “kid person”, but with these two, they fit like gloves.

The only down fall to last weekend…. Adelyn had some sort of stomach bug, so she was much crankier than normal.  The day everyone left, she was back to normal, go figure.

I love the fact that no matter how little me and my sister talk, we pick right up where we left off. There’s never any awkward silences or feelings. And we can just look at one another and laugh, as we know the other is thinking the same exact thing.

I think it’s great that Adelyn knows her NaNa and PaPa so wel

l, even though they are so far away. It makes my heart smile, knowing that as she grows, she will have fond memories of them being a part of her childhood. It’s great that she has a bond with Grant, she follows him around like a lost puppy dog. Every thing he does, she does (which is not always a good thing. hah).

We found a beach. OMG. A BEACH. I was so excited that we finally found a beach here in TN. That is probably the ONLY thing I miss about MI regularly (besides the friends/fam).

It was heaven. For me and Nic anyways. Hah. As soon as we got there, we set down our bags, and took off on the paddle boat, just me and her. No disruptions.

My disappointment did not come until an hour later, when I actually walked this so called “beach” that was littered with goose poop. It was so dirty. We left about ten minutes later. And will not be returning.

Adelyn wasn’t too keen of ANYONE this time around, and I think there were some hurt feelings a long the way. I know it was because she was sick, and I hope that when they come back in a few weeks, she’ll be back to her NaNa loving self, again.

We made memories though. And that’s what counts.

Hoping everyone had a safe fourth (I know… a little late) and enjoys this weekend.
