Frequently Asked Questions

If you think my grammar sucks... check out this post.

How do you keep up with running your Etsy shop, maintaining your blog, keeping up with the house chores and being there for your children? It all seems too much.
It's simple- I don't. HAH. Each day is different. I always try to prioritize what is important that day. I'm a huge list maker. Seeing what needs to get done in writing helps me from feeling overwhelmed. Plus, it's a great feeling being able to check something off. Some mornings there is a focus on the shop, other mornings it's house chores. Whatever is working for us that day is how we roll. The kids always come first, so if they're not feeling it,  neither am I. A lot of stuff gets done after 8PM when the kids go to bed.

I just started my blog, but don't have any followers. What am I doing wrong?
Nothing. It takes time to gain readership. And let me be the first to YELL, it is NOT about how many followers you have! So many new bloggers base there "success" on there number of followers. I did a mini-series on blogging. Check out Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

Have any tips for a newbie?

Blog about what you love, it will show through your posts. Connect with other blogs that you love, comment often and sincerely and they might notice you. Buy sponsorship on other blogs with a following. Participate in LinkUps. Connect with readers through Facebook and Twitter. Do Guest Posts or offer Guest Posts. Most of all, just stay true to your voice and be consistant. The rest will come in time. Also, be sure to read those articles I linked in the above answer!

Do you respond to every message?
I can't respond to every single comment, but I do try my best to answer ever question thrown my way.

How can I get featured on your blog?
Easy. Email me! Read more about getting featured and advertising here.

How do you get your photo's so BIG?
Well, the answer to this question used to be that I blogged with Windows Live Writer, which allows you to size your images to whatever you want. Since changing to Mac thought, it's not that easy. I use an app called Image Resizer, which lets you upload your images and resize to the pixel of your choice. All my images have a pixel width of 800. After saving the new image, I then upload it into the post on blogger and click the "original size" link instead of "small, medium, large". You can see these links when you have the image selected in blogger.

What camera do you have?
Canon T3i

What do you use to edit your photo's?
Some of my photo's are not edited but created in Instragram. All other photo's are edited using iPhoto or Photoshop or Picasa. Most posts dated prior to April 2012 were edited in Picnik. (If you're a Picnik lover like myself, then be sure to download the newest version of Picasa, a lot of the same features are now available there.)

What Layout do you use?
Just a plain ole' blogger template. The "Simple" one to be exact. I've changed up a few things w/ the Template Designer feature, and I also widened it.

Where do you get all your glass jars?
I hoard them! hah.I will not throw glass jars away. Whether it's a Frappuccino glass or pasta jar... I know I will use them eventually.
